Moment of Silence for Harry Harrison
By Elena Nola on August 15, 2012
Some sad news today from Tom Doherty at Tor: Harry Harrison passed away this morning. He was 87, and he had been publishing science fiction for more than 50 years (since 1960). His most iconic characters were the Stainless Steel Rat and Bill, the Galactic Hero. His 1966 novel Make Room! Make Room! was the basis for the film Soylent Green. I think the length of his career and the power of his ideas speak for themselves. His voice will be missed.
