Damon’s Weekly Noise - Nov 9 2008

November 9th, 2008 by Damon | Filed under Column.

This was a rough week as I did not have anything to read.  The two books I am waiting on, I am still waiting on, and I had a bunch of time this week to actually read.  So what does that mean, that means I watched a bunch of television instead, bought some Christmas presents, and got to the gym.  Sorry to keep it so short this week, but I am a busy man trying to get in shape for a triathlon!

Best Television Show of the week: I am really digging Crusoe, and once again this week I put it on the top of my list.  The scenery is beautiful, the tree house is well done, and the camera angles are all perfect.  Throw in the fact that Crusoe and Friday work well together, the rest of the acting is top notch, and the flow of the story is not bogged down with slow points or non essential information and you understand why.

Worst Show of the week: The election coverage, this time around was the first time they held the poll information until everyone had voted.  That made for some very boring coverage.  Plus when you fall on the losing side, it makes it much worse.

70s/80s/90s media that has followed me this week: The Smurfs have popping up like little blueberries in my travels.  I have been trying to get my kids into watching them, but it is a no go.  I guess there is not enough action, and too much blue.  I often wonder where my kids are going to get their morals from if they do not like the Smurfs and Charlie Brown, we know where they are not going to get them from.  I have no morals.   Kids these days, argggh.  Stay off my lawn.

Shows I have given up on: So there have been some television shows that I started watching at the beginning of the season but have given up on.  I think with so much decent television you can not watch it all, even with 3 DVRs in the house.  So I have given up on 90210 and Privileged as the first shows of the season to not get recorded.  90210 was actually pretty bad, so I do not even know why I watched so many episodes.  It was overacted, poor script, bad dialog.  All it had going for it was some pretty faces.  Now Privileged is a different story, I really thought that I liked it.  I guess deep down I was wrong, as when I started cutting show it just happened to be one of them.  I liked the premise, I just do not think it took off as quick as it should have.  If you make me wait too long for the buildup, I just end up not caring.

Worst job around the house this month: Leaves, crap I hate leaves.  In my gutter, on my lawn, in my shoes, the dogs eat them like crackers.  Wet leaves made me fall today.  It is driving me crazy.  Where is the damn snow already.

Shows I never gave a chance: Stay tuned for my answers next week.
