Variety is reporting that Sam Mendes will be directing the film adaptation of Preacher - the critical favorite comic book series by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon.

Mendes directed movies like American Beauty and Road to Perdition. The former garnered him the Golden Globe and the Academy Award.

Preacher was published from 1995-2000 and was published by Vertigo and in 1999 was the Eisner Award winner for Best Continuing Series.

How cool is that!
